my second wedding
boy am i a floozy
this one was pretty incredible – it was in Calistoga, probably one of the prettiest places i’ll ever see in my life, and it was held outside in the sunshine. i don’t know why, but ceremonies held outside on a pretty day always seem closer to God than ones in a church.
this wedding was like the polar opposite to my first one. they were both beautiful, but this one felt really tailored and professional whereas the first one felt flexible and family-oriented.
vera and i were running around all day – we barely had anything to eat – and the dynamic with the bride was different with this one too. in the end, we won her over, but the first bride was just so easy-going. everybody’s different.
below you’ll find a video of the day – put together within a matter of hours by the awesome videographers. i don’t know how or when i’m getting married, but when i do, these guys are filming it

my first wedding
no, not that, haha
i’ve recently started apprenticing under a fabulous wedding planner named vera devera of va de vie events: http://www.vadevie-events.com/
i met vera through a mutual friend who was a fan of vera’s work. i had expressed interest in shadowing or interning for a wedding planner, seeing as i’ve basically been a planner my whole life, and i couldn’t ask for a warmer, funnier, sweeter mentor. she’s definitely showing me all the ins and outs of wedding planning, and i’m loving it!
my first wedding was with this great older couple in crockett, ca. i’m not sure what the situation was (widowed or divorced), but their children were there to support them, and there was so much love and warmth in the room. vera and i were on hand to set up the reception hall (crockett community center) in the morning, and organize the wedding party at the ceremony in the afternoon. we then helped move photos and the catering along at the reception and were the off-hand dj’s. it was beautiful, and it had its challenges, as i’m noticing most weddings do, but i loved every minute of it, and yes, of course, i cried my eyes out during the toasts.
anyhow, i just thought i’d share some of my favorite pieces of the wedding, and I was going to share a video of the live zydeco band (zydeco flames), but for the life of me i can’t figure out how to get it to rotate 90′ so oh well for now.
